(1)
If at any time, it appears to the Registrar that a registered society has made default in performing any duty imposed by or under this Act or has failed to comply with a lawful order of the Registrar, he may by order in writing, fix a period for the performance of such duty or for the compliance of the order.

If such duty is not performed or the order of the Registrar is not complied within the period so fixed, the Registrar or any person authorised by him in this behalf may take or cause to be taken such action as may be necessary and recover the expenses of taking such action from the society as if it were an arrears of land revenue and for the purposes of such recovery, the Registrar shall have the powers of a Collector under the Tamil Nadu Revenue Recovery Act, 1864 (Tamil Nadu Act II of 1864).

Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-sections (1) and (2), the Registrar may direct the officer or officers, whom he considers responsible for the default to perform the duties or failure to comply with the order, to pay to the society the expenses recovered under sub-section (2).

The Registrar may, where the officer or officers fail to pay the expenses referred to in sub-section (2), by order, require such officer or officers to pay to the society such sum not exceeding twenty-five rupees as he may think fit each day until bis direction under sub-section (3) is carried out.
(5)
No order or direction under this section shall be made or issued except after giving the society or officer concerned an opportunity of ma king its or his representations.
(6)
The action taken under this section shall be without prejudice to any other action that may be taken under this Act and the Rules.
