The Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, direct that the powers exercisable by it [* *] [The words "by or " omitted by Act 42 of 1953, Section 4 and Sch.III (w.e.f. 23.12.1953).] under this Act shall, in such circumstances and under such conditions, if any, as may be specified in the notification, be exercisable also by an officer subordinate to that Government or [by the State Government or by an officer subordinate to the State Government.] [Substituted by Act 42 of 1953, Section 4 and Sch.III, for "the State Government " (w.e.f. 23.12.1953).]

All notifications issued under sub-section (1) shall be laid, as soon as may be, before Parliament.
