(1) This Act may be called the Coastal Shipping Act, 2025. (2) Save as otherwise provided; the provisions of this Act shall apply to--- (a) every vessel, other than an Indian vessel, engaged in coasting trade, irrespective of the place of residence or domicile of the owner; (b) every chartered vessel referred to in Chapter IV; and (c) coastal waters of India. (3) It shall come into force on 1such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint, and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act.
