In open cast workings, the benches formed shall be so arranged that the benches in ore or mineral and overburden are separate so as to avoid mixing of waste with the ore or minerals.

The benches in overburden shall be kept sufficiently in advance so that their workings do not interfere with the working of ore or minerals.

(3)

Orientation of the workings and sequence of mining operations shall be such that different grades of ore or minerals can be obtained simultaneously for blending with a view to achieve optimum recovery of ore or minerals from the deposit.
