- Notwithstanding anything contained in the Code of [Criminal Procedure, 1898 (5 of 1898)] [Now see the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974). ], an offence under this Chapter other than an offence punishable [under clause (i) of sub-section (1) of section 135 or under sub-section (2) of that section] [ Substituted by Act 36 of 1973, Section 8, for " under clause (i) of Section 135" (w.e.f. 1.9.1973).] may be tried summarily by a Magistrate.
