(1) A document may be served on a company or an officer thereof by sending it to the company or the officer at the registered office of the company by registered post or by speed post or by courier service or by leaving it at its registered office or by means of such electronic or other mode as may be prescribed.
(2) Save as provided in this Act or the rules thereunder, any document required to be served by a company on any member shall be served—
- by sending it to him at his registered address, or if he has no registered address in India, to the address, if any, within India supplied by him to the company for the giving of notices to him; and
- by electronic mode.
(3) Any member who has not intimated his address to the company or who has not provided an electronic address for service of documents through electronic mode, the service of documents through registered post or speed post or by courier service to the address of such member as available with the depository, shall be deemed to be served on him.
