476. Appropriate Government.
In sections 473, 474 and 475,—
- in cases of sentences of death, imprisonment for life or imprisonment for a term exceeding seven years, or in cases where the person sentenced is a woman, the expression "appropriate Government" means the Central Government when the sentence is for an offence against any law relating to a matter to which the executive power of the Union extends, and the State Government in other cases;
- in other cases, the expression "appropriate Government" means the State Government.
