329. Reports of certain Government scientific experts.
(1) Any document purporting to be a report under the hand of any of the officers hereinafter mentioned, upon any matter or thing duly submitted to such officer for examination and report in the course of any proceeding under this Sanhita, may be used as evidence in any inquiry, trial or other proceeding under this Sanhita.
(2) The Court may, if it thinks fit, summon and examine any such officer, and the officer may depute any responsible officer under him to give evidence in the case.
(3) The officers referred to in sub-section (1) are the following, namely:—
- any Chemical Examiner or Assistant Chemical Examiner to the Government;
- the Chief Inspector of Explosives;
- the Director of Fingerprint Bureau;
- the Director, Haffkine Institute, Mumbai;
- the Director of a Central Forensic Science Laboratory or of a State Forensic Science Laboratory;
- the Serologist to the Government;
- any other Government scientific expert specified by notification by the Central Government or the State Government.
