(1)

The [corporation] [The word corporation' was substituted for the original words standing committee by Bombay 6 of 1922, Section 24(a).] shall from time to time appoint a fit person to be municipal secretary.

(2)

The municipal secretary shall be secretary of the corporation and also of [the Standing Committee and the Improvements Committee] [These words were substituted for the words 'the Municipal Accounts Committee' by Maharashtra 27 of 1999, Section 27(a) (w.e.f. 23-4-1999)], and shall-

(a) perform such duties as he is directed by this Act to perform and such other duties in and with regard to the corporation and [the Standing Committee and the Improvements Committee] [These words were substituted for the words 'the Municipal Accounts Committee by Maharashtra 27 of 1999, Section 27 (b), (w.e.f. 23-4-1999)], as shall be required by him by those bodies respectively;

(b) have the custody of all papers and documents connected with the proceedings of-

(c) devote his whole time and attention to the duties of his office;

(d) [ receive such monthly salary [as the Corporation shall, from time to time, with the approval of the State Government, determine; but the salary of such officer shall not be altered to his disadvantage during his period of office] [Clause (d) was substituted by Bombay 48 of 1950, Section 42(2).];]

(e) be removable at any time from office for misconduct or for neglect of, or incapacity for, the duties of the office by the [* * *] [The words repealed by Bombay 6 of 1922, Section 24(b)] Corporation.
