Whenever the General Manager is unable to acquire any immovable property under section 4600 by agreement, the [State] [This word was substituted for the word 'Provincial' by the Adaptation of Laws Order, 1950.] Government may, in its discretion, upon the application of the General Manager made with the approval of the [the Brihan Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport Committee] [These words were substituted for the words 'Mayor-in-Council' by Maharashtra 27 of 1999, Section 174, (w.e.f. 23-4-1999).] and, subject to the other provisions of this Act, order proceedings to be taken for acquiring the same on behalf of the corporation as if such property were land needed for a public purpose within the meaning of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.

The amount of compensation awarded and all other charges incurred in the acquisition of any such property shall, subject to the other provisions of this Act, be forthwith paid by the General Manager and thereupon the said property shall vest in the corporation for the purposes of the [Brihan Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking] [These words were substituted by Maharashtra 25 of 1996, (w.e.f. 4.9.1996).].
