- If any meat, fish, vegetable or other article of a perishable nature be seized under the last preceding section and the same is, in the opinion of the Commissioner, diseased, unsound, unwholesome or unfit for human food or for medicine as the case may be, the Commissioner shall cause the same to be forthwith destroyed in such manner as to prevent its being again exposed for sale or used for human food or for medicine, and the expenses thereof shall be paid by the person in whose possession such article was at the time of its seizure.
