(1)
The Commissioner may, by public notice, prohibit the washing of clothes by washermen in the exercise of their calling, except at such places as he shall appoint for this purpose;
and, when any such prohibition has been made no person who is by calling a washerman shall wash clothes at any place not appointed for this purpose by the Commissioner, except for such person himself or for the owner or occupier of such place.

The Commissioner shall provide suitable places for the exercise by washermen of their calling, and may require payment of such fees for the use of any such place as shall from time to time be determined by the Commissioner, with the approval of the [Standing Committee] [These words were substituted for the words 'Member-in-Charge' by Maharashtra 27 of 1999, Section 160, (w.e.f. 23-4-1999).].
