When a representation is made by [the [State] [The words 'the Provincial Government' were substituted for the word 'Government' by the Adaptation of Indian Laws Order in Council.] Government] to the corporation that within any part of [Brihan Mumbai] [These words were substituted for the words 'Greater Bombay' by Maharashtra 25 of 1996, (w.e.f. 4.9.1996).], accommodation is required for housing any part of the Police of [Brihan Mumbai] [These words were substituted for the words 'Greater Bombay' by Maharashtra 25 of 1996, (w.e.f. 4.9.1996).], the corporation shall take such representation into their consideration, and, if satisfied of the sufficiency of their resources and that it is otherwise expedient, shall pass a resolution to the effect that a scheme for providing such accommodation ought to be made, and shall direct the Commissioner to forthwith proceed to make a police accommodation scheme.
(2)
The police accommodation scheme may provide for constructing dwellings, police stations and accessory buildings for any or all classes of such Police, and for acquiring, raising and levelling any land required for the execution of the scheme.
